Central bank urges banks to boost capital to face new shocks
MOSCOW, Jul 4 (PRIME) -- Russian banks should return to accumulation of capital buffers in the amount sufficient to face possible new shocks, the central bank said in a draft report devoted to anti-crisis measures published on Tuesday.
“In the coming years, it is advisable to return to accumulation of capital buffers in the amount that will help banks maintain capital adequacy in case of new shocks. To determine this level, banks can conduct internal stress tests, and the Bank of Russia can conduct macroprudential stress testing,” it said.
“Credit institutions should restore capital markup where possible ahead of schedule of the Bank of Russia.”
The central bank also urged banks to recover additional capital ahead of the schedule set by the authority.
